Feng Long Gu, Professor of South China Normal University, Leading Talent of the "Hundreds of Thousands Project" of Guangdong Provincial Special Support Program, Distinguished Professor of "Pearl River Scholars" of Guangdong Province, Director of the Key Laboratory of "Environmental Theoretical Chemistry" of the Ministry of Education, and Member of the Theoretical Chemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society. He has served as the deputy director of the Academic Committee of the University. He is currently the director of the Analysis and Testing Center of South China Normal University. From 1985 to 1995, Professor Gu studied for his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at Jilin University, under the supervision of Academician Auchin Tang, a famous theoretical chemist. He has been engaged in theoretical chemistry research at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany, the Catholic University of America and the University of California, Santa Barbara, the University of Ottawa in Canada, Hiroshima University and Kyushu University in Japan, and has been working on the development of computational methods and programs in theoretical chemistry. His research interests mainly focus on (1) the basic theory of polymer and crystal nonlinear optical materials, (2) simulation of the degradation mechanism of environmental pollutants, and (3) the development and application of linear scale programs for large systems.
