Master and doctoral students and their supervisors,
Please read the following information before graduate application and thesis/dissertation defense in Summer 2021.
1. All procedures of graduate application and thesis/dissertation defense are followed by the rule of "Detailed Rules for the Granting of Doctorate and master’s degrees by South China Normal University" (Hua Shi [2020] No. 14). Please read the manual in the website of Graduate School and download all the required files before application.
2. According to the school's documents, graduate students in arrear with tuition will not be allowed for graduate application. The payment situation of applicants will be carefully reviewed when the list of applicants submitted to the degree office.
3. The requirements including application span, course credits and scientific research achievement will be reviewed by the staff who the committee of the college appoints to. Only applications from those who meet all requirements will accepted and the the list of qualified applications will be submit to the system of degree office.
4. thesis/dissertation should be taken and passed the academic misconduct test by college before submission. Qualified repetition rate cannot exceed 20% in principle. To prevent academic misconduct and ensure the quality of the thesis/dissertations, the format of the thesis/dissertations, the topic and content of the thesis/dissertations will be carefully reviewed by degree committee of the college.
5. The pre-defense is necessary for doctoral dissertation. Only those dissertations which pass the pre-defense can be submitted to review.
6. For the purpose of confidentiality, all confidential papers must be handled according to "Interim Regulations on the Confidentiality Management of Graduate Dissertations of South China Normal University" (Huashi Party Committee [2014] No. 4). Confidentiality and classification are asked to apply. Thesis/dissertations can be written only after being approved by the school's confidentiality committee. After that, Thesis/dissertations submission, review and defense should be strictly followed the relevant procedures (Note: internal papers are not classified as confidential papers, and the submission process is the same as ordinary papers. The papers have to be submitted to library before their graduation. The claim that thesis/dissertations are not published for a certain number of years can be made to library.).
7. Only the applicants can leave after their submission of final version of thesis/dissertations to graduate work office of college and library (2 papers and 1 ebook versions). For more detail, please read the attachment 2 below.
8. Supervisors and applicants are requested to strictly arrange the graduate application and thesis Defense according to the deadlines in "School of Environment 2021 Summer Ph.D. and Master Degree Application Work Schedule" (see attachment). Anyone who fails to submit the materials before the deadline will be considered to have given up the qualification for the degree application.
